London - Dimanche 17 Octobre 2021 - London Challenge Poverty Week.

Between the 11th and 17th October 4in10 hosts London Challenge Poverty Week.

There are events and activities planned all over London and online. Check out the LCPW website for full details and get involved!

Examples include:

The London Poverty Summit talking place in person on Thursday 14th October .30 – 5.30.

Barking and Dagenham Youth Dance – Interpreting what poverty means to families and young people. Online throughout the week.

JustFair and Social Rights Alliance Webinar  – Using Human Rights As A Tool To Tackle Poverty. Monday 11th October 13:00 – 15:00

Newham Social Welfare Alliance and Anti-Poverty Alliance and the Commission for Social Security both have online events planned for Wednesday 13th October.

During London Challenge Poverty Week, Lewisham Local are running five online food-growing related workshops for families to tackle holiday hunger and encouraging visits to some of the wonderful community gardens in the borough.

And on Monday 11th  and Sunday the 17th Join ATD 4th World in both in person and online poetry events.

London - Dimanche 17 Octobre 2021 - Virtual poetry jam

This 17 October, ATD London is organizing two events:


Mbeya City - Dimanche 17 Octobre 2021 - Celebration with the children in the orphanage

Mbeya City is a city South of Tanzania situated South West of Dar es salaam about 14 hours travel by bus where will be cerebrated October 17 this year. For preparing this evenement, ATD met some friends in Mbeya. It was his first visit to Mbeya as ATD. The visit was a discovery, to learn and understand the situation in Mbeya. Together with some friends, an agreement is occured about how celebrate October 17 this year. There is an orphanage in Mbeya, where will be celebrated october 17th with the children in the orphanage.

Planning :

  1. ATD members will gather together to clean the vicinity and put in order the environment within the area.
  2. Some members will conduct a street library for the children.
  3. Before lunch we will share some news and knowledge about ATD and October 17.

This will be a means of introducing ATD in the area.

Mbeya City

Njombe and Dodoma - Dimanche 17 Octobre 2021 - Testimonies from parents and children

The event in Dar es salaam based on the theme, will be centered on our participation during the first attack of covid 19 in the country, our role to reach the most excluded in the education sector "Building Forward Together" without leaving anyone behind. This will be presented through testimonies from parents and children showing the achievements from the exercise. We are also thinking of holding an exhibition of the products produced by the entrepreneur group to show our effort in "Ending Persistence Poverty".
We believe that gatherings will take place in Njombe as well as in Bihawana Dodoma.

Mumbai - Dimanche 17 Octobre 2021 - Webinar"Suffering of the poorest due to natural disasters related to climate change, duty and contribution of science"

On the initiative of KL University - Vijayawada Campus (India)

  • To raise awareness in the academic world of the need to introduce people with experience of poverty as key contribu tors to research on different themes including the issue of climate change.


  • To share experiences of participation of people experiencing poverty in decision-making and action processes in the context of natural disasters.
  • To develop the conditions for the participation of people experiencing extreme poverty in research

Expected results:

  • A better knowledge of the actions of ATD Fourth World
  • Networking between academics and people committed to social justice and the environment with the ambition of leaving no one behind
  • Demand for information and training on participatory methodologies, including the Merging of Knowledge and Practices developed by ATD Fourth World in partnership with universities Webinar description.
